This thursday match was met with clear water and a low water level, work on the dock gates saw the level 6 inches lower than normal, but Bathurst Basin fished consistently, no bream were caught, probably due to clear water, but plenty of skimmers and roach fed.

Top rod on the night was Pete Ellis with10lb 11oz of roach and skimmers caught on a pole with groundbait and caster. Second was Merv Sivell with 8lb 6oz which included a 1lb 11oz perch on the pole with maggot and groundbait. Adam Caswell was third with 7lb 2oz of roach and the only bream to show. Dave Clutterbuck was 4th with 5lb 14oz of roach and bleak caught on the pole with caster and hemp. Rupert Garner followed up his win from last week with a fifth place 5lb 4oz of roach and eels. John Macey was 6th with 4lb 12oz of roach and eels.

The high walls mean you need a long keep net and landing net handle, but the street lighting adds to the visibilty at night. Bathurst Basin is an area of the docks that is out of the main flow so it doesnt colour up so easily as the rest of the docks, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. Its good advice to check the water colour of the basin and the rest of the dock before you start fishing.
