Daiwa Longbow DF Carp Rods
If you’re an angler who has been watching on with envy whilst your bankside peers have been casting out with their Daiwa Infinity DFs, but you don’t have the budget to invest in a set of those rods, then this could just be the rod series for you. Designed by Korda’s Danny Fairbrass, the designer of the Infinity DF, this is a completely revamped version of Daiwa’s original Longbow.
Rebranded to show Danny’s involvement, the new Longbow DF has both the look and the feel of the Infinity DF, only at half the price. This huge cost saving represents the fact that the recovery and response levels on this rod are slightly lower than on the Infinity, but Danny himself has admitted that he often struggles to tell the difference between the two!
The Longbow DF is built on the same high quality blank as the original Longbow rod – Danny loved it some much he couldn’t bring himself to change it. Where Danny’s influence really has been felt is on the fixtures and the rod now features a Fuji DPS real seat and a 50mm butt ring. Fuji is the biggest name in rod fixture and fittings and it is a brand trusted by all the biggest names in the industry, thanks to its production of high quality and highly durable products. The guides on the rod are designed to protect your line, reducing the friction it experiences and allowing you to cast greater distances with increased accuracy. In fact, this rod offers exceptional precision when casting and it can handle mid and long range casts will equal skill. The reel seat holds your reel in the perfect position, locking it into place to ensure that you don’t experience any unnecessary lateral movement when you’re battling an aggressive fighting carp.
Starting at 2.75lb, this popular test curve will hit 120yds (plus in some hands) and thanks to the slim blank will load sweetly along its length with plenty of power down deep.
Stepping up in test curve are the stronger 3lb and 3.5lb models. Casting longer distances and putting out heavier leads these will suit the more common styles of today’s carp scene with the 3.5lb model reaching 140 yards, accurately.
A 3.75lb model rounds up the range for the ultimate casting tool under the Longbow banner, with plenty of power behind it for sending heavy leads and solid PVA bags right out there with the correct technique.
Also in the range is a ‘Floater Special’. The lighter 2.25lb action and incredible slimness is a dream to handle for mobile surface fishing with lighter lines.
This has to be one of the best rods on the market for this price..
Brilliant all round rod, casts well and feels good when playing fish...
