ESP was originally launched back in 1999, when the brands life long consultant, Terry Hearn, was described as having a sixth sense or Extra Sensory Perception(ESP) because of all the big fish he catches, and since that day the name has stuck and ESP was born.

When ESP first started they concentrated on terminal tackle and other bits and pieces, all with the intention of making something better than anyone can. It was not long before they expanded into other areas, producing high specification carp rods, luggage and clothing. Terry Hearn designed two hook patterns, the G-4 and T-6, they had needle sharp points and were extremely strong, these hooks took the market by storm and made the ESP brand what it is today. Terry was quick to realise the potential of needle sharp hooks to help catch the ultra difficult shy fish that he was targeting, that the benefit of employing top quality anglers as consultants.

These two successful hooks were quickly followed by a Stiff Rigger hook pattern, which were designed to be used with Terry's hinged stiff rig and later evolved into the Chod Rig, these presentations were to prove deadly effective. In 2001 the Big-T hook range was launched and this was the first hook to have a PTFE coating, something that has become standard amongst quality carp hooks to this day.

In 2016, ESP introduced the Cryogen range of hooks that set a new standard in carp hooks, the new and unique twin tempering process resulted in hooks with superior point durability and unrivalled strength, they are 25% stronger than previous ESP hook patterns and they have done that without increasing the wire gauge.

ESP in 2018, they now produce carp tackle made to very high specification, designed by in-house CAD engineers working along side top quality anglers to produce some of the best carp gear on the market. ESP have their own plastics factory that produce moulded components from a variety of compounds to produce top quality carp tackle. The range of ESP carp rigs are tied by highly trained staff to make sure they are of a consistent high quality.

All ESP products are thoroughly field tested by their consultants to make sure there are no problems, all this makes the ESP brand highly respected and trusted by some of the best carp anglers in the country.
