The water level had been dropped by 20" for Thursday evening match and the fish didnt like it at all, combined with coloured water and a windy evening, the roach and bream failed to show.
A recent change of Dock gates means the water is now being drawn from the bottom of the gates and not the top, as before, and the natural tow of the dock seems to have changed, maybe the fish need time to adjust or could it be the unnatural low water temperatures for the time of the year.
In a normal year roach and bream would be spawning by now, but with water temperatures hovering between 10 and 12 degrees, spawning is a long way off yet.

Despite all this, top rod on the night was Rupert Garner, this was his first match back from winter retirement, he drew end peg 1 and caught 8lb of roach and bream on the pole with maggot and ground bait. Merv Sivell was second with 2lb 13oz, a single bream on the pole. third was dave Clutterbuck with 2lb 11oz of roach, dace and perch on the pole with maggot and groundbait.
Andy Curry was fourth with 2lb 3oz on the pole and Dave Shore was next with 1lb 13oz, sixth was Pete Sivell with 1lb 11oz.
