The last match of the year, on the docks, looked like it was going to be a cracker, conditions were perfect and everyone was expecting to bag up. The colour was spot on, very mild with a gentle breeze yet it fished awefull.

Top rod on the night was John Macey with 5lb 2oz of roach and skimmers caught on the pole with maggots, this is the lowest winning weight for a long time. Second was Dave Shore with 3lb 2oz of roach and dace on the pole.

Jason Bird was third with 3lb 1oz of skimmers and roach caught on the groundbait feeder, Andy Curry was fourth with 2lb 15oz of skimmers and dace on the feeder.

In fifth place was Pete Sivell with 2lb 10oz, which included a 1lb F1, there are a few F1s in the docks system which must have found their way into the docks when the rivers that feed the system flooded and these fish have escaped from a couple of local lakes. There is a lake by the side of the Bristol Frome at Winterbourne which has F1s in it, so perhaps they escaped from there.

Bristol Docks has to be the only place in the country where your next bite could be from an F1, sea trout, mullet or flatfish, not forgetting the normal species, nobodys caught a conger yet, or at least they havent landed one.
