baltic 6th july

Winter seems well and truly behind us now and spring is here, saw my first swallow of the year yesterday and a family of mallard ducklings, and the fishing has got a lot better, even the recent easterlies didn't put the fish off.

Thursdays night match was fished at Redcliffe Wharf, the water was nicely coloured, good conditions for the fish to feed. Top rod on the night was Merv Sivell with 12lb 8oz, he caught bream and skimmers on the pole from end peg 8, Merv caught all his fish on the pole with maggot hook bait. Second on the night was Pete Ellis with 11lb 14oz, all skimmers and roach from peg 4, pole and maggot was the successful method.

Third on the night was Jason Bird with 9lb 3oz, he was next peg to Pete, he also caught skimmers and roach on the pole. Pete Sivell was fourth with 7lb 4oz, Dave Clutterbuck caught 5lb 12oz for fifth and John Macey was sixth with 4lb 7oz.
