Yesterday I fished a local lake, the air temperature was 13 degrees, the water temp was 8 degrees, there was a lovely light south westerly wind blowing and it was a real joy to be out on the bank, hard to believe that less than 3 weeks ago we were fishing through holes in the ice.

During the afternoon carp started to jump in the far margin, where the wind was blowing in, a sure sign that the water was warming was the algae starting to pop up from the bottom. The fish liked the warmer water and by the end of the day I had caught 79 skimmers and bream and my first margin caught carp of the year, a 14lb mirror.

Whiteacres in 3 weeks for the Baitec festival, cant wait.
